Attention golfers! If you’re looking to lower your handicap – use CPAP machines and treat your sleep apnea

And now to some sports news:

The LA Times reports that golfers who use CPAP machines and fix their sleep apnea issues can actually lower their handicap by three strokes if not more.

Researchers found out that treating sleep apnea can help golfer’s attentiveness, focus, endurance and ability to make crucial shots, especially when examining older and experienced players.

The study examined 12 golfers with sleep apnea. The golfers received CPAP and NPAP machines treatment and were compared to 12 golfers who did not undergo any treatment.

Well, turns out that the patients who received the treatment had a better handicap average and those who did not receive the treatment had no improvement whatsoever.

The researchers believe that there are 3 million golfers with obstructive sleep apnea and most of them are undiagnosed or just untreated, and as you know, all it takes to treat sleep apnea is a using a CPAP machine – the results can be felt in the next morning!

New study: People with untreated Sleep Apnea should be extra careful on the road

A new study shows that people who suffer from sleep apnea may be less alert when driving a car. Researches found that drivers with untreated sleep apnea should be extra careful before driving, especially when consuming even the smallest amounts of alcohol.

The study was published in Australia after checking the responses of 38 drivers who suffer from sleep apnea, using a special driving simulation. The results were compared with the driving skills of healthy drivers and proved that untreated sleep apnea can lead to serious traffic accidents.

The drivers with sleep apnea had difficulties staying in their lane, and 12 of these drivers crashed their car during the tests, another 8 crashed after drinking small amounts of alcohol.

Of course that every driver who has troubles sleeping should be extra careful before hitting the road, but according to this research, drivers who suffer from sleep apnea should be even more careful and responsible while driving, especially long drives.

If you are one of these drivers, know that a CPAP machine can treat sleep apnea and make you sleep like a baby from the first night of use.

Ergonomic CPAP Mask? Meet Respironics ComfortCurve

If it seems like you’ve tried each and every CPAP mask out there, and you still can’t achieve the level of comfort you desire, you should take a look at the Respironics ComfortCurve.

The ComfortCurve Nasal Interface System is simply a breakthrough for patients seeking alternatives to traditional masks. It is the first to provide a less invasive, more complete and lifestyle-oriented form of airway delivery.

Lifestyle oriented? Yes. Lifestyle oriented means a less medical-looking, innovative and compact design that allows unlimited patient visibility for reading or watching television before going to sleep.

While other masks cover most of the face and head, the ComfortCurve is less invasive and features an innovative cushion that provides a soft, cradling seal gently under the nose

This state-of-the-art nasal mask was designed to rely on ergonomic and adjustable cheek pads (and not the nose) to support the seal and further eliminate unnecessary nostril irritation, pressure or pulling. The ergonomic CPAP mask provides a lightweight and flexible connection to the device that is less likely to pull on the interface or disrupt the seal.
